Ian Wright has pointed out what we can all see but don’t quite want to believe right now: Alexis Sanchez is unsettled and probably wants to leave Arsenal.

The Chilean has just 15 months left on his current contract, which means the club needs to sell him this summer if they want to cash in. Although Juventus is the most likely destination, it’s unclear whether they’ll be able to offer the forward what he wants.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live’s 606 programme, Wright had his say on the Alexis situation and admitted that if he was in his position, he would want to leave as well.

“It’s a shame simply because he is Arsenal’s best player. He is a player that Arsenal need desperately to be there,” the pundit said.

“I’m not sure if money is going to keep him there at the moment because if he’s storming out of training [no, he isn’t] and not playing in games [half of one game ffs]… it doesn’t seem to be a problem for him when he does come on because he still performs to the best of his ability.

“If I was him, I’d probably want to leave as well because what’s happening with Arsenal right now is not what he came to Arsenal for, especially not being in the top four.

“Everything points towards that he’s unsettled, he’s unhappy and it seems to me like he wants to go.”

It’s difficult to see Alexis, our best player, potentially slipping through our fingers. However, as a former striker himself, Wright knows how badly the Chilean is chasing success and, to be fair, it’s not looking as if that will arrive at Arsenal any time soon.

Alexis is in his prime; Arsenal are not.
