Yep, it’s that time again when we discuss Arsene Wenger’s salary and whether or not he’s worth it.

Coming in fourth [insert your own joke here], the Arsenal boss is paid less that Jose Mourinho at United, Carlo Ancelotti at Bayern and the world’s highest paid manager, Pep Guardiola at City.

That means he’s paid more that Luis Enrique at Barca, Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, Antonio Conte at Chelsea, Ronald Koeman at Everton, Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, and Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid.

Many will wonder why he’s paid more than a few of those managers.

The quick answer is ‘experience.’

The long answer can be found in his record of overachieving despite severe financial restrictions and in the words of players like Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and others who all said they joined the club because of him.

Wenger is believed to earn around £8.3m per year and is out of contract next summer.

Should he sign a new one, it is likely we will see that rise, but I doubt very much it will come close to Jose Mourinho’s £10m or Pep Guardiola’s £12m (£3m less than he was earning at Bayern).
