With the return of the Premier League comes the return of the press conferences and some actual news.

Arsene Wenger’s presser was surprising, if for no other reason than no journalist dared  to ask him if he really did refuse to allow Jose Mourinho to sit beside him.

Team news and Alex Iwobi is back in training, as is Gabriel, but the weekend is likely to come too soon for both of them.

Aaron Ramsey is set to miss his 51st and 52nd match with an upper leg problem (hamstring this time) although they obviously haven’t all come at the same time. Will he be back after PSG? Who knows.

One of the journos tried to get Wenger to condemn Granit Xhaka for his red card while on international duty, but Wenger didn’t bite and the reporter was left to think up his own headlines for stories he hadn’t been able to manufacture.

The Ox was saying a lot in the matchday programme, about what Southampton and their fans means to him as well how desperate he is to play.

Gossip-wise and Hector Bellerin could be closing in on a new contract after talks started in June. Alexandre Lacazette is reportedly refusing to sign a new one with Lyon as they want to include a €70m release clause which even he knows nobody in their right mind is going to pay. Although, given half of football has lost its mind these days, he may as well take the payrise and just wait until someone desperate enough comes along.

It shouldn’t take along.
