On Saturday there was really only one thing that everybody was talking about – Gonzalo Higuain.

With Napoli’s official radio station claiming that the player would be sold to Arsenal for €50m plus Olivier Giroud, the internet went a bit loopy. We dug into the latest reports from Italy and England to try and find out what is really going on and it seems as if the next development should be coming on Monday.

Of course, that wasn’t the only rumour around. People are still linking us to Carlos Bacca, while Thomas Vermaelen apparently fancies a return to Arsenal. The internet being what it is, I’ve seen this rumour morph into one that claims he’s set to return. He probably isn’t. Riyad Mahrez? Maybe.

Wellington Silva seems to have signed a four-year deal to return to his former club, an Australian keeper has been talking about how Wojciech cost him his place at Arsenal, and we tried to work out just how many Arsenal players would actually miss the start of the season.

In actual news, Dan Crowley has been playing for Oxford United in Spain as his loan spell gets underway. Alexis Sanchez has been speaking about the state of his ankle, what he’s been up to in his hometown, and what he thinks of Lionel Messi’s decision to retire from international football.

Isaac Hayden believes he had to leave Arsenal because they have too many midfielders already and has concerns for Jack Wilshere’s upcoming season.

Oh, and there was some actual football as Arsenal’s youngsters played Boreham Wood, losing 3-0 in the traditional season opener. It had been just 1-0 with two minutes left.

So Arsenal.
