Claudio Ranieri has confirmed what we already know: Arsenal are willing to meet Jamie Vardy’s release clause but Leicester City don’t want to lose him.
The striker, whose £20m release clause was triggered over a week ago, is taking his sweet time to come to a decision over the potential move to north London. Well… that’s if you believe the reports, anyway. At Daily Cannon, we don’t believe the situation is as nearly as black and white as that but that’s the story the media are sticking with at this time.
Now, the Foxes’ manager, Claudio Ranieri, has spoken up and confirmed that the Gunners are willing to meet the asking price but that they don’t want to let him go without a fight.
“We want to keep him, Arsenal have said they will pay the full release clause, but he hasn’t accepted yet,” Ranieri said to Sky Italia.
“He gets the last word.”
Although the manager didn’t exactly tell us anything we don’t already know, it does back-up what Vardy’s wife said on Good Morning Britain recently that, apparently, a decision has not been made yet.
