It’s like they never learn.

Yep, it’s that time again, when Barcelona get interested in a young player they allowed to leave once they see how well he’s doing for Arsenal.

To be honest, I’m surprised it has taken this long for reports to emerge that the Catalan side are tracking Hector Bellerin, the right-back who was with them for eight years before moving to Arsenal along with Jon Toral.

According to a story running in the Daily Star, Barcelona, despite their transfer ban which they plan to appeal once again, are keeping tabs on the defender and the Star has already started to build a narrative – claiming that the player will be unhappy at his lack of football once Mathieu Debuchy returns from his dislocated shoulder.

Given the nightmare that was Barcelona as they chased Cesc Fabregas, a player they hounded until he re-signed for them then discarded just a few seasons later, no Arsenal fan will be looking forward to a repeat of that as Barcelona begin to flex their sense of entitlement.

Signing a new four-year deal only recently, Bellerin would have been fully aware of Debuchy’s expected return when he put pen to paper and I doubt he will be going anywhere just yet.

Still, the thought of having to deal with Barcelona’s nonsense as they try and take yet another player from Arsenal who will no doubt end up being thrown away a few years later is frustrating to say the least.
