Southampton must be absolutely sick of Arsenal by now.

First it was Theo Walcott, then it was Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before we then plucked Calum Chambers away and now it seems we are set to try our luck with 16-year-old Callum Slattery.

I guess Southampton should be flattered that they produce such great players, but I doubt that means very much to them. Think of what it feels like every time Barcelona come knocking for one of ours.

Slattery is a midfielder (of course he is, this is Arsene Wenger we’re talking about here) and is believed to be on the ‘closely watch‘ list of the Gunners as they consider making a move.

This isn’t the first time Arsenal have been linked with the youngster, in fact, links started surfacing around 12 months ago when the Sunday People reported that they were interested in the Saints ‘Super babe.’

It’s not quite clear how the teenager fels about being described that way but it would seem like a rumour that has quite a lot of truth to it.

Whether Arsenal can tempt Southampton into letting him go is another matter entirely but the player himself must surely see the strides that the three former Saints have already made and wonder ‘what if?’
