Spanish outlet Sport report that Arsenal and Espanyol are waiting for the end of the coronavirus crisis to start negotiating the summer transfer of Marc Roca. The Gunners already submitted an offer, and it’s likely the player moves on this summer.

Bayern Munich made a move for Roca last year, offering €20m. However, following negotiations in Ibiza, Espanyol decided to stick to the €40m release clause in the player’s contract. They also rejected a loan offer with a purchase option from Inter Milan.

Arsenal held an interest in Roca back then too, but went for Dani Ceballos instead. Roca is now their first option as a replacement for the Real Madrid man, according to the claims.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder made it up to 33 appearances for the season before the league suspensions.

Roca’s a strong passer, as well as having the ability to make intelligent blocks. Football-Espana write that he also draws plaudits for his positional sense and leadership qualities.

What happens next is obviously closely tied to the conclusion of the season.
