Everton have made contact with former Arsenal boss Unai Emery over their vacant head coach job, according to reports.
Sky Sports News understand that Unai Emery had an informal meeting with Everton representatives in London. Though he wants some time to think about his next move, he’s not going to wait too long.
The coach is keen to continue improving his English, but he could also return to Spain or move to Italy. At this stage, he hasn’t made a decision.
Emery took charge of 78 matches with Arsenal, reaching the Europa League final in his debut season.
Initially, his team won a record percentage of their first 50 games. After failing to qualify for the Champions League and a severe drop off in form, however, the Gunners decided to sack the coach.
Arsenal have installed Freddie Ljungberg as interim head coach whilst they search for a new one. Meanwhile, Everton sacked Marco Silva and gave Duncan Ferguson their head coach job on a temporary basis.
There’s always been a feeling that Emery would be more suited to a slightly lower-profile job. Whether Everton fit that profile is up for debate, but they’re certainly a better fit than Arsenal.
