Malcom insists that his objectives are still to make his ‘dreams come true’ with Barcelona, after reports of a transfer request in recent days.

Most recently, reports in the Spanish media suggested that Malcom spoke to Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde, and asked to leave in January if he can’t get more game time.

Various reports suggested Arsenal, Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur were the main clubs interested in a move, and that they’d already made contact with Barcelona to let them know as much. Malcom responded to all the speculation around his future in a social media post.

“About news that came out here in Spain, I want to clarify this: I came to Barcelona with many objectives, and those who know me know that I am a very determined person,” Malcom wrote on Instagram (via Metro).

“I’m very happy with my development with every passing day. My objective is to make my dreams come true. My family is also adapting very well to the city. Anyway, I’ll continue fighting for everything I desire in my career.”

On Wednesday, Malcom finally got the first start of his Barcelona career. He played 80 minutes of the side’s Copa Del Rey trip to CyD Leonesa, so it was hardly the most high profile game. All the same, he might finally feel like he has his foot in the door to eventually work his way into the starting lineup.

So far, Barcelona have played 10 league games, Malcom has appeared in the squad for five and entered the pitch for just two. The club have a busy schedule coming up, with a game on Saturday followed by one on Tuesday. We’ll see if the Brazilian gets any more game time as a result.
