Marco Fassone and Massimiliano Mirabelli flew to London on Monday night to meet with Elliott Management and discuss their future, amid rumours Ivan Gazidis will join AC Milan in a new organisational setup.

Elliott Management are Milan’s owners, and from the looks of things they’re trying to poach Gazidis from Arsenal to work as they’re new managing director. Premium Sport write that that’s the case, and that Fassone and Mirabelli flew to England for talks with the owners over their futures as a result.

Italian outlet Corriera della Sera go one step further, claiming Fassone is already close to leaving at this point, and Gazidis is the main candidate to replace him. Meanwhile, CalcioMercato claim Elliott Management have long been admirers of Gazidis, and his chances of joining the Italians have grown a lot in the last few days.

Football-Italia previously reported that the links make sense, because Elliott Management founder Paul Singer’s son is a big Arsenal fan, and knows Gazidis personally from his visits to the Emirates Stadium for matches.

Clearly Gazidis’ stock is starting to rise, probably as a result of the positive way the departure of Arsene Wenger has been handled so far. We’ll see if he decides to take on a new challenge, or stick with Arsenal through their transition period.
