UPDATE: Arsenal and Valencia agree Coquelin fee

Valencia are reportedly in ‘advanced’ talks with Arsenal over the transfer of Francis Coquelin, a player who was unexpectedly propelled into the headlines on Monday afternoon.

According to Marca, Coquelin no longer ‘fits the plans’ of Arsene Wenger and the club have put him up for sale.

The midfielder, who was omitted from the FA Cup squad that was humiliated at Forest on Sunday, has also caught the eye of West Ham and Crystal Palace but the Spanish outlet believes that Gabriel, who moved to the club in the summer, is sending back ‘good personal reports’.

Talks are said to be at an advanced stage with Arsenal although there has not yet been any discussion with the player regarding the move.

Arsenal are said to value Coquelin, who has three-and-a-half years left on his contract, at £10m.

With just 165 minutes in the Premier League this season, Coquelin is no doubt open to an exit.
