Arsenal could have signed Tottenham and Manchester United target Malcom in 2015 for £35m less than he’s currently being valued at.

The media are linking Malcom with a £44m move to Spurs and United. Premier League at the moment. However, before Bordeaux signed the forward from Corinthians for £9m last January, Arsenal had the chance to sign him.

Reports from Brazilian outlet Calcionews24 suggested the Gunners were considering a move in 2015, with Fenerbahce the only other club involved. However, both sides stalled on a deal, and Bordeaux came in to steal the transfer away from them.

The move has worked out very well for the Ligue 1 club. Despite sitting in 15th in Ligue 1, Malcom has seven goals and five assists in 20 matches this season. He’s bagged three of those goals against Lyon and Paris Saint-Germain too. Now the club stand to make a profit of £35m, if the reports are true.

Arsenal will be disappointed they didn’t add the player to their squad when they had the chance, especially when looking at our current options out wide. Personally, they haven’t been particularly impressive this season, and we’ll likely be shopping for replacements should Alexis Sanchez leave this month or next summer.
