Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain donned a disguise and tried to sell his Liverpool shirt to a young fan, before being left embarrassed when the prank went wrong.

The Liverpool player tried to convince a fan to buy his shirt while in disguise, but failed.

The fan in question was young, yet gave the perfect reason why he wouldn’t want Oxlade-Chamberlain’s shirt.

The 24-year-old told the fan that he’d be a superstar. His response was: “One day. He’s been saying that for the past 10 years though.”

It’s fair to say the Ox’s Liverpool career hasn’t quite sparked into life. He left Arsenal for more game time in his favoured position of central midfield, but has found himself either on the bench or playing on the flanks.

His form has improved in recent weeks, but he’s still far from a first-team regular under Jurgen Klopp.

If we can read anything into this botched attempt to give a shirt away to a young fan, it’s that he’s yet to capture the imagination of the Liverpool public.

In fairness to him, he dealt with the rebuttal pretty well, and is still settling into life at a new club. The potential is still there, but time will tell if he’ll reach it under Jurgen Klopp.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will be thinking that the £35m they received for him is looking very good.
