Stuttgart midfielder Berkay Ozcan is being linked with Arsenal.

The 19-year-old has already been dubbed the new “Mesut Ozil” after breaking through into the Stuttgart first time.

Recent reports have linked him with Arsenal, after the club sent scouts to watch several of his game last season.

The S*n have a handy profile of him and what sort of player he is.

The origin of the new Ozil tag is obvious enough. Ozcan was born in Karlsruhe in Germany to Turkish parents, and happens to play as an attacking midfielder. These shared traits make it easy to compare him to Ozil, although their playing styles seem to differ slightly.

Ozcan is described as being good with both feet and having both the acceleration to beat players and the upper body strength to hold them off. On top of this, he has the vision to pick a pass and can even whip in a dangerous set-piece.

This isn’t quite reflected in his numbers, however. Ozcan got three assists for the Stuttgart in his first full season in the Bundesliga 2, where played 21 games. This season, he has two assists from two games, but seems to be struggling to get as much first team football in the Bundesliga.

It’s for this reason that a move to Arsenal is seen as premature. At 19, he still has plenty of growing to do.

Currently, his long future is in doubt as his contract only lasts until 2019. Should he opt not to extend, he could turn out to be a bargain buy for some clubs.
