Lucas Perez has apparently suffered a thigh injury while on loan at his former club, Deportivo.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), Lucas has managed to suffer a ‘significant contusion in the left quadricep, which has caused a hematoma in the crural muscle’.

A contusion is basically a bruise and this appears to be a bad bruise that reaches down to the muscle. However, it’s unlikely that this will take a massive amount of time to heal. Though no return date has been given yet.

The 29-year-old’s loan spell in La Liga hasn’t gone according to plan. He’s only scored once in five appearances and this latest injury blow will probably set him back even further.

As the forward only made 11 Premier League appearances (two starts) for Arsenal last term and spent a lot of time on the bench, it’s not surprising that he probably needs some time to bed back into playing regularly. However, now he could be sidelined for a few weeks, this sets him back to square one.

Hopefully Lucas recovers quickly and gets back to first team action as soon as possible.

Marseille are reportedly interested in signing the Spaniard at the end of the season once his loan spell with Deportivo has come to an end but this apparently depends on how he does this term.
