Arsenal signing Sead Kolašinac has been described as an ideal signing for the Gunners by former teammate Timo Hildebrand.

The wing-back has had a solid start to his Arsenal career in his pre-season matches so far. After performing well at centre-back, he struggled in his first start out wide, as illness hit the squad before the Bayern match.  He had to be taken off after only 40 minutes.

Having recovered to start the next week against Benfica, he put in his best performance so far. Sead was heavily involved in three of Arsenal’s five goals from wing-back.

He was credited with the assist for the Gunners’ opener, showing why he’s been nicknamed the ‘Bosnian Hulk’ as he muscled the defender to the floor, before clipping a ball into the middle for Walcott to finish.

Former Schalke teammate Timo Hildebrand told Sky Sports via Daily Star that Arsenal should expect more of the same when the season gets underway, saying: “He is so strong that nobody can stop him. He is really strong and also a fighter.

“He had those qualities even when he was a young player coming through the ranks at Schalke. He is a very good player and I think he is going to do well in the Premier League.”

Arsenal will be hoping he can bring these qualities to the side on a regular basis, with the Gunners have often been accused of lacking the strength required in more physical matches.

Granit Xhaka has already shown that he’s not afraid of a fight. So with Sead joining him, Arsenal have added that physicality which should allow the creative players to flourish.

The Bosnian’s first competitive appearance is likely to come on Sunday against Chelsea in the Community Shield. Such a strong showing last weekend surely pushed him to the top of the selection process.

Hopefully he can produce the same again.
