Alexis, Wenger & more: Arsenal in the mainstream papers

Arsene Wenger, his comments on Neymar, Alexis Sanchez, and the women’s Euros dominate Friday’s mainstream newspapers.

On Thursday, Wenger insisted that Alexis will just have to respect his decision to keep him at Arsenal for the final year of his contract rather than allow him to leave.

The Chilean has made his desire for Champions League football clear but, since he does have a contract to honour, the final decision isn’t up to him.

This isn’t the first time the boss has confirmed that the forward, who scored 30 goals over all competitions last season, is staying. However, it was the first time that he’s used this particular phrasing.

The Telegraph have run with his, using the headline: “Sanchez will respect my decision, Wenger insists”.

The Daily Star continue to report that Wenger is hopeful that the 28-year-old will sign a new deal.

Alexis’ apparent ‘badge kiss’ also seems to be featuring quite frequently, including in the Express and Star Sport. Although at least it gives them a break from reporting on his leaving.
