Kelechi Nwakali met with Arsene Wenger, with the pair believed to have held talks over his future at Arsenal.

The Nigerian midfielder posted a picture on Twitter showing him with Wenger, although it’s unknown what the outcome of their meeting was.

Nwakali spent last season on loan with MVV Maastricht and returned to Arsenal ahead of pre-season. At the end of May, his agent revealed talks were expected with the Gunners boss to decide if he would be loaned out again next season or retained.

“The season just ended in Holland and all things being equal, Nwakali will first return to Arsenal now the loan deal at MVV Maastricht ended this season. We’ll be going into fresh talks with Wenger to know what the future holds for Nwakali,” said Olumide Olowu, reports the Daily Post.

Nwakali signed from the Diamond Football Academy in 2016 and is yet to make a senior appearance for Arsenal. He recently turned 19 and will be hoping his performances will have made an impact back home.

He’s clearly enjoyed his loan spell away from the club but is now targeting a place in the first-team. Arsene Wenger will often select a number of players to training with the seniors in pre-season and Nwakali could be one after talks with his boss.
