Everton are reportedly confident that they can convince Olivier Giroud to join their ‘ambitious project’ this summer.

Despite Giroud‘s recent comments regarding his excitement over Arsenal’s pre-season in Australia, indicating that he could in fact be staying with the Gunners, Everton are reportedly hopeful that they can convince the 30-year-old to join their project this summer.

The Toffees are set to be signing Wayne Rooney from Manchester United, at the very least on loan, and Gylfi Sigurdsson from Swansea, while Gareth Barry is set to move to either West Brom or Burnley, and Romelu Lukaku has signed for the red Devils, which will bring in a reported £90m alone.

Everton are allegedly viewing Giroud as a replacement for Lukaku. However, they face competition from Marseille, Lyon, Fenerbahce and West Ham.

Arsenal are said to be demanding £30m for the striker – £10m more than Everton have previously been reportedly willing to part with. However, the Gunners now know that the Toffees have Lukaku’s transfer fee burning a hole in their pocket.
