Arsenal could make a fourth bid for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar despite previously rejected offers.

No matter Monaco’s stance on the player, it seems Arsenal aren’t yet willing to give up trying to sign Thomas Lemar.

According to L’Equipe, Arsenal could return with yet another new bid, this time of £49.2m, for the French winger after their £44.7m bid was rejected.

There’s certainly an air of futility about this deal.

Arsenal don’t appear to be making much progress with their incremental bids being rebuffed by Monaco every time. It seems that an “over the top” bid is the only thing that will convince them to sell.

L’Equipe, meanwhile, have covered a lot of old ground with their latest report. The player is interested in Arsenal but Monaco don’t want to sell. Their sales of Lemar’s team mates suggests that they are willing to sell, but only for a huge price.

We can’t be sure about how real these bids are, however it does feel like Arsenal are wasting their time here.

I hope Arsenal are laying the groundwork on other deals in the meantime, especially if they finally accept they cannot get Lemar.

Otherwise, this could be a disappointing end to the summer.
