Chelsea’s Diego Costa looks set to return to Atletico Madrid despite Arsenal and Manchester United both being linked with ‘shock moves’ for the striker earlier in the summer.

  • Costa was briefly linked with Arsenal and Manchester United
  • Chelsea willing to sell striker for €30M (£26m) this summer
  • Atleti keen to bring 28-year-old back

Costa’s reported move back to Atletico, the team Chelsea signed him from for £32m three years ago, looks set to go ahead, which means that, according to previous reports, Arsenal (and United) are set to miss out.

When the news broke that Antonio Conte saw Costa, who scored 20 Premier League goals last season, as surplus to requirements, it took all of about five seconds for Arsenal to be linked, despite most Gooners hating this guts.

However, no one ever really thought the move would happen.

Sure enough, Costa looks set to move back to Atleti, with Chelsea asking for €30M (£26m).

Diego Simeone  is reportedly keen to bring the striker back to Spain, but the club will only pay the fee if Costa isn’t already registered in Chelsea’s Champions League group-stage squad, since they want him to be eligible to play for them in the competition.
