Arsenal could lose out on Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette with Manchester United set to make the French international a number one priority after giving up on Antonio Griezmann.

According to 101 Great Goals, Manchester United pursuit for Antoine Griezmann has all but ended with Atletico Madrid under a transfer ban and therefore unable to replace any players who leave in the summer. They were set to sign Lacazette as Griezmann’s replacement but will be stuck with the latter for 2017/18.

The non-move for the Lyon striker will put a host of clubs on red alert, Arsenal and Manchester United have been linked this summer. Arsenal have been rumoured to be interested in Lacazette for many years and are looking to bolster their attack ahead of the new season, evident from their rejected world record bid for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.

But Manchester United have greater financial muscle to outbid Arsenal and offer a more lucrative contract which could prove telling. Both Premier League clubs have international teammates who could try and convince the centre-forward to join but Arsenal may not meet his asking price.

Lacazette has scored 28 Ligue 1 goals in 28 starts this season and won his third Player of the Year award for Lyon.
