More about Tony Adams? Yes, however this time the former Arsenal defender has some nice things to say about Arsène Wenger after a barrage of hostility in recent weeks.

According to the 50-year-old, Wenger can lead an English football revolution in the space of a decade, if the FA made him their new technical director.

Despite Wenger signing a two-year contract extension just last week, the outspoken legend made his feelings clear on how Wenger could have a profound impact on the English game away from the Emirates.

He said, “If I was the head of the FA, I’d stick Arsene in at St George’s Park, give him what he wants and give him 10 years to make a revolution in English football.

No disrespect to Dan Ashworth [current technical director], he’s doing what he can but you want a guy like Arsene who knows football inside out to build the structure because we are going [struggling].

It seems as though Adams has begun to backtrack after some unsavoury comments about his former boss were made public recently.

Supporters’ level of discontent has continued to increase in recent seasons and with Wenger’s new deal, many are frustrated that Arsenal are stagnating whilst their rivals are continuing to strengthen. Adams’ recent comments have not helped matters.

This new approach will be welcomed by many.

Arsene’s such a great human being, and for it to all to crumble away around him, and with the abuse he’s getting… it’s so sad to see the most successful Arsenal manager of all time being treated this way,” Adams continued.

I got out at the top and people still love me at Arsenal because of that, and I’d hate them to hate Arsene for killing the club over the next two years if he holds on too long. I feel lots of love for him.

Some feel as though this season’s FA Cup Final victory over Premier League champions Chelsea was a perfect opportunity for the Frenchman to depart, though it has only fuelled his desire to challenge at the top even further.

With a summer of change expected at Arsenal, it’s still uncertain whether or not Arsene will rue his decision not to leave on a high after a forgettable campaign.
