Arsene Wenger had some choice words for referee, Martin Atkinson, following Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat away to Manchester City.
City’s goals were offside.
This is the second time in a week we’ve lost by 2-1 after going 1-0 ahead early. And the second time the referees have not been kind to us.
Wenger: "We conceded two offside goals. Referees are safe and protected very well, like lions in a zoo."

While I do get Wenger’s anger, I feel like it’s misplaced.
The team as a whole played shockingly, just like against the Toffees on Tuesday, and if City hadn’t scored that goal, they probably would have kept probing and scored another.
Rather than slamming the officials, the boss needs to just go back to the drawing board and question why our performances have been so terrible this last week.
Bad officiating is one thing but when a team is just plain poor, there’s not a lot of difference to be made. We were always going to lose playing like that.
City are now in second place in the table, while Arsenal are, predictably, fourth.
