Robert Pires believes that although England need a manager like Arsene Wenger, so do Arsenal.

The former player revealed that he talks to the boss every morning but they’ve not actually spoken about this. Therefore, he can’t give any further insight into what the Frenchman’s next move is. However, he doesn’t appear to think taking the FA up on their offer of becoming England manager would be as good an opportunity for Wenger as it would be for England.

“I speak with Arsene Wenger every morning and we haven’t spoken about this,” Pires said.

“Of course a lot of people want to see him manage England and they certainly need a manager like him. Everybody knows he’s a great person and a great manager.

“It would be a great opportunity for England, I don’t know if it would be for Arsene Wenger. It’s not the same job, club or country.

“This guy loves the pitch every morning. It’s a passion. It’s an obsession. It’s not really the same when you manage a country.

“If he takes this job he would need to adapt to the new challenge, it’s not really the same.

“I hope he will continue with Arsenal. Arsenal need Arsene Wenger.”

Le Bob shares a similar view to a couple of us here at Daily Cannon. It’s a completely different type of manager role and one I’m not sure Wenger would be able to handle. Not because he’s not capable but because he’s used to the intensity of coaching a club at the top level. He’s a workaholic and, with England, he’ll have a very different job.

Will Wenger accept the offer? I’m still not sure but I agree with Pires. England have far more to gain from the appointment than Wenger.
