There are two opposing stories coming out of the Italian media regarding Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi.

One, an ‘exclusive’ from Calciomercatowhich claims that Chelsea have now made contact with the Serie A club over the striker and are keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge. The other coming from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who says that Napoli are still the ones who appear to be in the driver’s seat, with other reports claiming that talks have been held between the two Italian sides.

Previously, it was reported that Chelsea are willing to offer Oscar plus cash for the €65m 23-year-old because they appear to want to buy all the strikers in the world (the last part is my words, not theirs). Whereas Napoli have just lost their best player, Gonzalo Higuain, to Juventus. They need a new striker and have the money, so I’d say they’re definitely the more likely of the two to sign him.

Saying this, Icardi seems pretty happy to stay with Inter but we know how fickle football is these days, don’t we?

Arsenal aren’t even in the picture anymore. Until tomorrow… probably.
