Bayern Munich have reportedly got in touch with Arsenal to enquire as to the availability of Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean is under contract until 2018 and Arsenal are set to offer him a new deal, but with the Gunners underperforming and Bayern Munich a hard club to turn down, it is indeed concerning ahead of the summer transfer window opening.

Of course, Arsenal have absolutely no need or incentive to sell unless the offer that comes in is ridiculously high, and even then, the amount of damage his sale would do in terms of fan relations means that it would not make sense at any price.

With Bayern Munich making steps to adjust to life under Carlo Ancelotti, the German giants have already begun negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of Mats Hummels.

After the contact, Arsenal are believed to have made it clear that the forward is not for sale and the approach is not being regarded as a formal one at this point.

Will Bayern take the hint or will they go all ‘Barcelona’ about it?

Only time will tell…
