We have, for almost 20 years, been managed by Arsène Wenger, but is his time at the helm approaching its end?

The Arsenal boss hasn’t won the Premier League title since 2004 and has faced a lot of criticism as a result. Now, with the title race wide open and Arsenal looking likely to blow their best chance of glory in a decade, could the boss leave at the end of the season?

It’s early days yet, but finishing behind Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur would be deemed unacceptable by many. After Sunday’s 2-1 loss at Old Trafford, odds on the Arsenal boss walking out at the end of the season have been slashed to 9/2.

Though it seems finishing below two sides with inferior squads and smaller budgets could lead to the Arsenal manager leaving his job, the odds have been shorter before. Three years ago they reached 9/4, and they were 4/1 in December 2012. They also took a tumble earlier this season, when the Gunners lost on the opening day of the campaign.

Ultimately they mean nothing, the odds are a result of market forces. After all, Arsenal were favourites for Sunday’s match at Old Trafford before turning in a horrible performance.

Arsène Wenger will have been left scratching his head after watching Arsenal drop even more points, and this could be the first time we’ve been outperformed by clubs with smaller budgets. That’ll leave the Frenchman asking a lot of questions of himself but, right now, there’s nothing to suggest it would be enough to force him out of the door.
