Former Gunner, Patrick Vieira, insists that although he’s learnt from Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho, he’ll bring his own style of management to his new club, NYCFC.

It’s been clear for a long time that the ex-midfielder has been eyeing up a career in football management. After coaching behind the scenes at Man City for a while, the big man is now ready to manage his own team.

NYCFC has only been competing in the MLS since 2015, and is actually owned by Manchester City, with Etihad being their official kit sponsors. Therefore, considering that Vieira was with the Blues since 2010 as a player and then as one of the backroom staff, it stands to reason that this helped him get his foot in the door with his new team.

Speaking recently at the beginning of his new role, Vieira insisted that although he can draw inspiration from his former managers, he wants to develop his own styles.

“I’ve been very lucky playing under managers and spending time with them and learning from them,” he said.

“It’s important though to be myself and not copy anybody else because that will be the biggest mistake to make.”

I’m sure Patrick will have a great time at his new club and we wish him every success.
