New signing, Mohamed Elneny, spoke with FC Basel’s website recently, admitting that his move to Arsenal is a dream come true.

After finally signing on Wednesday morning following weeks of speculation and semi-confirmations, the 23-year-old Egyptian could finally announce his transfer to north London and it appears the midfielder can’t wait to get started for his new team.

“It is a big move for me,” he said.

“A lot of people think I will not be able to replicate my performances for Basel at Arsenal, but I want to prove the entire world wrong.

“It is a huge step for me and a dream come true. I want to show the world that I am a good player.”

Elneny is the perfect signing at the moment. With Coquelin out for months with a serious knee injury, Flamini likely to sail off into the sunset on a boat made out or pure gold (I’m not sure how it would float, but I’m sure he’s got the money to have a go), and Arteta’s legs not likely to hold out much longer, signing a defensive midfielder was top of Wenger’s list once the transfer window opened.

I’m sure everyone’s curious to see when he’ll start. Paperwork permitting, he should be able to take part in our match against Stoke on Sunday but that might be a big ask for someone who’s just joined the league.
