Just when we thought everything was looking up, the football Gods had to bring us back down to earth.

It appears that Arsenal are about to suffer from our lack of activity in the transfer window (what else is new?) as not only is Mathieu Flamini out for the Champions League match against Olympiacos at the Emirates, so is Mikel Arteta and Francis Coquelin is still a doubt.

Fantastic news!

Although Coq is back in training, it still remains to be seen if he’ll be fit enough to face the Greek side on Tuesday night. This was to be expected. We all know that Arsenal injuries aren’t straight forward.

“He has been back since yesterday and I will have to see how he responds to two days of training, but he looks alright,” said Wenger.

Flamini came off against Leicester early on with a hamstring injury, so I doubt anyone expected him to have any part on Tuesday either.

The surprise is Arteta, who played well against the Foxes on Saturday and has now mysteriously been struck down.

“Both [Arteta and Flamini] have slight muscular problems, but I think Flamini has a scan today and Arteta certainly as well,” the boss revealed.

“No, they are not big injuries. It is a question of days.”

Fingers crossed.
