According to a reports appearing to originate from 888Sport.com, fitness consultant Ray Wilson says Jack Wilshere has been training away from Arsenal during the summer.

In a bid to beat his injury woes, the midfielder has been seeking advice away from London Colney. Apparently this is due to concerns the 23-year-old has about the consistent injuries picked up by not only him but by the whole team at the same time of year. Wilson believes this is down to Arsene Wenger not training them appropriately.

Wilson, who works for Back 2 Action, a leading sports rehabilitation centre, said, “He is not relying on coaches at Arsenal because there is always that annual Christmas blip where everybody seems to get an ACL or hamstring injury.”

He continued, “This could be down to just bad luck or it could be the coaches. Are they training in a way they should be? Are they doing enough physical training that can help them cope with the demands of the football style that Arsene Wenger wants them to play? My conclusion is no they’re not.”

If true, it’s slightly concerning that our own players don’t have confidence in our methods. Although I think it’d be naive of us to believe that we automatically know the full story just form this report.

Wilshere sustained ankle ligament damage last season, which had him sidelined for months. However, this wasn’t his first serious injury by far and his promising career has been considerably halted while his body heals. It’s would be understandable if he was asking for a second opinion in a bid to get over this bad luck.
