Mesut Ozil has come under fire for passing too often and not shooting enough, and during Arsenal’s match against Lyon in the Emirates Cup, he seemed determined to silence his critics.

The midfielder made noticeably more shots on goal, opting to pass when he could but also not to the detriment of the attack.

During Ozil’s two seasons with us, he’s come under some harsh criticism for essentially being unselfish. This could be down to a number of things, one of which being his confidence in front of goal.

Whether the German is shooting more because he wants to, whether he’s sick of the criticism, or because he’s being told to by Arsene Wenger shouldn’t matter, as long as he’s scoring goals like he did during our 6-0 thrashing of Lyon, I’m sure he doesn’t have any complaints.

Here are some of his best moments against the Ligue 1 side.
