With Wojciech Szczesny roaming off to… Roma, Italian journalist, Gianluca Di Marzio, has said that we’re looking to bring in AC Milan keeper, Marco Amelia.

Di Marzio, who recently confirmed that Szczesny was on his way to the Serie A club, has revealed that the Italian will be replacing the 25-year-old, with David Ospina’s future at the club still uncertain. Whether this’ll be long term or corresponding with Szczesny’s season-long loan is unclear.

The goalkeeper appears to be out of contract and only appeared once for AC Milan last season (although he did keep a clean sheet, so that’s something). It therefore seems he’s willing to sit on the bench with little-to-no game time. However, do we really want someone who’s happy to sit on the bench and not fight for a first team spot? Also, do we really want a 33-year-old with that little experience?

The Italian appears to have hinted himself that he could be on his way to Arsenal. However, he could just be trying to make himself seem more appealing to potential suitors. If Arsenal want him, then he must be good, right?

“Arsenal? I signed a confidentiality agreement, so I cannot say anything.

‘I’m still young for a goalie, I’m 33 years old and who knows in the future.”

Saying that, Di Marzio appears to be ‘in the know‘ about such matters, so we shall see.
