After being sidelined for an estimated 87 years, Danny Welbeck is set to make his big comeback for the Arsenal u21s against Brighton on Friday.
The striker has been through the ringer so far with his Arsenal career. After joining from Manchester United, the 25-year-old has suffered through injury after injury and the most recent one (and I use the word ‘recent’ lightly) has kept him out since last April.
Now, the striker is back in training and should make his first appearance in almost a year against the Brighton u21s on Friday.
It’ll be great to have the striker back in action as, when he’s in form, he’s a fantastic addition to the squad. In fact, if he could get a decent run in the team, he’d be an effective super-sub to back up Olivier Giroud or even challenge him – although that might be a bit optimistic.
Either way, it’ll be amazing to see him back on the pitch.
