According to a report, Arsenal are planning a January move for Belgian wonderkid Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian teenager was incredibly impressive for Anderlecht last season, and would fit into the Arsenal midfield seamlessly assuming he is ready to make the step up.
Now Calcio Mercato have said that Arsenal boss Arsène Wenger is weighing up a move for the midfielder ahead of the transfer window reopening in January. The midfielder has started the new season in fine form, netting three goals in six appearances in the Jupiler Pro League, Belgium’s top division, playing from the left of midfield.
Interestingly Tielemans is well suited to playing a deep midfield role, and played there excellently against Arsenal in the Champions League last season, but now playing on the left shows his incredible versatility and adaptable attributes.
Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that there’s anything in this link. Though Anderlecht will be unwilling to part company with the 18-year-old, he is clearly set for big things so why would Arsenal have hesitated and not made a move this summer? By biding time and then plotting a move two weeks after the window shut, the Gunners would just be giving every other club in Europe a shot at attracting the player.
Tielemans would be a great addition and is destined for big things but, early in September, this rumour doesn’t make a great deal of sense.
