Arsenal have received a boost ahead of their  Premier League clash against Liverpool, as the Reds’ first-choice goalkeeper, Alisson Becker, will be out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

The Brazilian suffered the injury during Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, ruling him out of several key fixtures, including the trip to the Emirates on 27 October.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot was forced to substitute Alisson late in the game, and scans confirmed that the hamstring injury will keep him on the sidelines until after the November international break, which concludes on 19 November.

Paul Joyce of The Times reported on Wednesday that Liverpool are preparing to be without their star goalkeeper for a key stretch of matches, including those against Chelsea, RB Leipzig, Arsenal, Brighton, Bayer Leverkusen, and Aston Villa.

Slot expressed concerns about Alisson’s injury following the game, stating, “With Alisson it is clear he will be out for maybe a few weeks. If a player walks off like he does, that normally means he’s not in the Brazil squad, and I don’t expect him to be in the first game afterwards.”

Slot also indicated that Alisson is unlikely to be ready for Liverpool’s matches after the international break, saying, “Unfortunately Ali will not be with us in those matches I assume, if I saw how he walked off the pitch.”

In Alisson’s absence, Caoimhin Kelleher is set to step into the starting role, having missed the recent game at Selhurst Park himself. Vitezslav Jaros, who made his debut against Crystal Palace, will serve as the backup goalkeeper.

Further compounding Liverpool’s injury woes, Alexis Mac Allister was also forced off at half-time during the Crystal Palace match due to another injury. Slot explained that the decision to withdraw Mac Allister was made to prevent aggravating the problem, though he remains hopeful that the midfielder could return in time for the Arsenal game.
