Hubert Graczyk has reportedly joined Manchester United after his release by Arsenal, but the move is yet to be confirmed officially.

Arsenal released youth goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk this summer, and reports in early August suggest the youngster could be set for a move to Manchester United.

That move was never officially confirmed, but it was effectively verified when Graczyk was named on the bench for United’s u21 clash with Blackburn Rovers on Friday.

Chido Martin Obi is also expected to join Manchester United from Arsenal’s academy this summer, once the two clubs agree on a compensation fee for the move.

Though it was possible Graczyk was only on trial, given the lack of an official announcement, Samuel Luckhurst reports for the Manchester Evening News that it’s a done deal.

According to Luckhurst, the deal to sign Graczyk was completed earlier in the summer, and he will be formally announced as a new signing when United publish their Professional Development League squad.

Arsenal let go of six academy goalkeepers over the summer, and they’ve now all found new clubs.

Ovie Ejeheri moved to Midtjylland, Arthur Okonkwo to Wrexham, Noah Cooper to Stoke City, James Hillson to Southend United, Owen Asemota to Aston Villa, and now Graczyk to Manchester United.

Graczyk’s move makes sense, as he wasn’t getting any minutes at Arsenal.

Following a month-long loan to Slough Town at the start of 2023/24, Graczyk returned in late August, but he only made the u21 squad five times in the remainder of the season and didn’t play a single game for the Gunners.

It was a somewhat surprising turn of events, with Graczyk having played 24 games for the Arsenal u21s in 2022/23.

Previously Mehmet Ali’s first choice, Graczyk ended up watching on all season as fellow youth goalkeepers Ejeheri, Karl HeinBrian Okonkwo, Hillson, and Alexei Rojas mopped up all the minutes.
