Arsenal are Raheem Sterling’s most likely destination if he leaves Chelsea on deadline day, but the move currently looks improbable.

With Manchester United and Arsenal both linked with a move for Raheem Sterling in the latter stages of the summer transfer window, Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News reports that the winger is more likely to end up signing for the Gunners.

Yet Luckhurst adds that sources have suggested it’s just as probable that Sterling will end up staying at Chelsea as moving to Arsenal.

Elsewhere, Kaya Kaynak of Football.London reports that a potential Sterling move to Arsenal is unlikely on deadline day as it stands.

Jordan Davies reports that Sterling has been offered around, including to Arsenal, but the club have so far been adament that he’s not in their plans.

Davies adds that it would be a huge surprise if the Gunners now perform a U-turn and pull off a late deal.

Various sources including Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail and James Olley of ESPN had confirmed on Thursday that Arsenal had been offered the chance to sign Sterling. But there was never much certainty over whether it was a move they would pursue.

Sterling made 43 appearances for Chelsea in 2023/24, scoring 10 goals and assisting a further eight. He played multiple different positions across the front line, potentially making him a versatile addition to the Arsenal squad.

But for the time being, the move doesn’t look to be on.
