Arsenal academy youngster Billy Vigar left the club this summer, with the Premier League confirming that he was on their list of released players.

Isthmian League club Hastings United were the beneficiaries, picking Vigar up as a free agent at the end of July.

Vigar went on to feature for Hastings United in pre-season, playing against the Brighton u21s and scoring against the Southampton u18s, before earning his competitive debut at the weekend.

The 20-year-old made his first start against Horsham FC on Saturday, before making a second against Whitehawk on Tuesday, playing 68 and 82 minutes respectively in the two fixtures.

Though he’s yet to get on the scoresheet in a competitive game, Vigar will be pleased with how the two matches went, with Hastings winning both.

Hastings sit joint-top of the Isthmian League after two games, with an identical record to Lewes (six points and a goal difference of three from three goals scored).

It’s been an encouraging start for Vigar with his new club, and he’ll hope there’s plenty more to come this season.
