Fulham agreed to a club-record fee, paying £27 million upfront with an additional £7 million in potential addons.

Smith Rowe, who has struggled with injuries, made only three Premier League starts last season.

Despite signing a new contract in 2021 and taking the No 10 shirt, his opportunities at Arsenal had diminished and while the majority of the Arsenal fanbase will be devastated about Smith Rowe leaving, they also know that the time is probably right given the club’s ambitions and the midfielder’s need to find form.

Smith Rowe joined Arsenal’s academy in 2010 and made his senior debut in 2018. He gained prominence during the 2020-2021 season, scoring his first Premier League goal against West Bromwich Albion. Smith Rowe was pivotal in Arsenal’s attacking midfield, contributing key goals and assists.

Despite his potential, injuries and the arrival of new players limited his playing time further.

During his time at Arsenal, he also had loan spells at RB Leipzig and Huddersfield Town.

Smith Rowe earned his first England cap in 2021 and was known for his technical skills and versatility.

He will be missed.
