The Arsenal u15s took part in the Premier League u15 International Tournament last week, with the young Gunners joining a list of elite teams at the competition.

Sunderland hosted the event at the Academy of Light, with matches taking place between Friday, March 8th and Sunday, March 10th.

As hosts, Sunderland qualified for the event, and they were joined by Arsenal, Aston Villa, Bayern Munich, Brighton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Everton, Liverpool, PSV Eindhoven, Sporting CP, and West Bromwich Albion.

The tournament played out in a similar fashion to the current Champions League format, with an initial group stage followed by knockout fixtures.

In the end, Arsenal came out on top, claiming their winners’ medals for the 2023/24 edition of the event.

The team defeated Aston Villa in the final on penalties after a 2-2 draw, with Marley Frohock scoring twice and also netting in the shootout.

Arsenal’s Brando Bailey-Joseph claimed the Player of the Tournament award, and the team were also aided by the inclusion of Max Dowman in the side.

14-year-old Dowman is certainly still young enough to be playing u15 football, but the midfielder has often stepped up to higher levels this season, including making his Arsenal u18 and England u16 debuts.

Having his presence in the u15 side on this occasion would have been a big boost, and he could be seen holding the trophy in team photos at the end.
