After plenty of speculation, negotiations, and leaks, Arsenal have now officially confirmed the signing of Kai Havertz from Chelsea on a long-term deal.

The transfer is reportedly worth around £65m, with the two clubs compromising on Arsenal’s opening bid of £55m and Chelsea’s initial valuation of £75m.

Havertz has signed a contract with Arsenal to 2028, and he spoke to the club website about the move.

“It feels super exciting for me personally,” Havertz said. “I’m so glad to join this amazing club.

“I think, you know, this club has such a big history and I hope we can achieve lots of things and I’m just looking forward to meeting all the players, the staff. It’s going to be exciting.”

“I experienced [the talent of the current squad] myself a couple of times,” Havertz added. “You can just see, I think, the family mentality that the team has on the pitch, and I guess, you know, they have it off the pitch as well.

“The team mentality in the squad is very, very high and you can feel that. So I think that was one of the reasons why it was so hard to play against Arsenal.

“There’s so many talented players and, you know, there’s big room to achieve big things as well.”

As for the return to the Champions League, Havertz admitted he’s excited to play in the competition with Arsenal.

“I think the Champions League is a special tournament,” Havertz said. “I think every football player just loves to play there.

“I was fortunate to win the trophy and you know, for me it was the best feeling I’ve ever had.

“So to play there again next season with Arsenal is very exciting for me.”

Chelsea failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, missing out on Europe altogether after a 12th-place finish. So they’ll have to watch on as Havertz links up with Jorginho against Europe’s elite next season.

Havertz is taking the number 29 at Arsenal, just as he did at his previous clubs.
