VfL Wolfsburg striker Jonas Wind says a transfer to Arsenal would be his dream move, ranking the Premier League as the best in the world.

Speaking to the German media this week, Bundesliga striker Jonas Wind has admitted he’d love a move to Arsenal in the future, even if he’s focusing on his current club Wolfsburg for the time being.

“If we look into the future, Arsenal would be a dream destination for me, as it has always been my favorite club,” Wind said. “In general, I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and it would be exciting to play there.

“But as I said, that’s not what I’m focusing on at the moment. I’m doing well here in Wolfsburg, it’s a good club for me, and the Bundesliga is a great league to play in.”

Wind has played very limited minutes for Wolfsburg this season, picking up a hamstring injury having only made one substitute appearance in the Bundesliga before that setback.

The 23-year-old scored 16 goals and assisted seven in 42 appearances last season, a goal or assist every 144 minutes. But that was across two clubs, beginning the campaign with FC Copenhagen before moving to Wolfsburg in the winter window.

The striker is also a Denmark international, scoring five goals and assisting two in his 15 games (seven starts) for the country.

Wind moved to Wolfsburg as a winter replacement for Wout Weghorst, who joined Burnley that same month.

Funnily enough, Weghorst had also spoken about a potential transfer to Arsenal while he was with Wolfsburg, saying the move “fits in the perfect picture” for him.

It’s rare that you see a player talking about their favourite club and then actually joining that club later.

There are so many factors that go into a transfer, and plenty of players are willing to join a team even if they didn’t support them as a child. So these quotes won’t significantly increase the chance of a move.

But at around 6’3″ with a strong aerial presence, Wind would offer something different to the Arsenal attack. For the time being, he needs to focus on making a strong return from his injury.
