Arsenal Youth report that Arsenal’s Elian Quesada-Thorn has suffered a stress fracture in his back, and he’s now been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

Quesada-Thorn had been breaking into the Arsenal u18s around the turn of the year, making his first couple of starts for the side in a pair of wins over Chelsea and Reading.

He even provided an assist in the Chelsea win and received an u23 call-up to the bench for a match in mid-February.

That progress saw the young left wing-back rewarded with a call-up to the Costa Rica u20s at just 16 years old, where he faced off against Arsenal’s Marcelo Flores with Mexico.

But after a couple more appearances at club level, Quesada-Thorn picked up his current injury, and he hasn’t featured since.

Given he’s only just turned 17, there’s no rush for the youngster. He’ll still be eligible for u18 football next season, so this injury absence shouldn’t have long-term effects on his progression or chances with the club.

But a setback is never nice, especially when it comes right as you’re starting to get your break. We wish Quesada-Thorn well with his recovery.
