Jack Wilshere finally finds new club, will wear no.10

Football.London report that Jack Wilshere received a formal offer from an unnamed Greek Super League side before the free transfer window deadline in Greece at 23:59 on Tuesday. A few days later, it’s clear nothing ended up coming of the offer.

The same outlet add that Serie B side Como are still trying to sign Wilshere as well.

Como Councillor of Sports Paolo Annoni posted a Facebook update last week on Thursday, following a meeting with the club’s General Manager Carlalberto Ludi.

“He [Ludi] revealed some interesting news,” Annoni wrote, “including a new signing who is more than just a target: Jack Wilshere, a former Arsenal player.”

The major problem is that post-Brexit, Wilshere is no longer an EU player. That’s a requirement for Serie B players, so you’d think that would spell the end for any potential deal.

Reports from TuttoMercatoWeb (via Football Italia) suggest Como are looking at ways to change Wilshere’s status somehow, and Annoni’s comments certainly make it sound like they haven’t ruled the possibility out.

Unfortunately, Como aren’t close to the promotion places, so Wilshere can’t just wait it out until they make it to Serie A.

If they can’t find a way to make him eligible, he’ll have to turn to other options. But the Greek Super League offer appears to be off the table.
