Marcelo Flores could be set to face off against England with the Mexico u20s, after another call-up at that level for the October break.

The Mexican National Team confirmed their u20 call-ups for the October international break this week, and Arsenal’s Marcelo Flores was one of those involved in the squad.

The Mexico u20s will play England (and Miguel Azeez) on October 9th and France on October 11th, with both games taking place in Marbella, Spain.

These October matches are only friendlies, but they’re a key part of Mexico’s preparation for the 2022 u20 CONCACAF Tournament. That event will be both the qualifying matches for the u20 World Cup and also the 2024 Olympics. So they need to be ready.

There’s also the fact that Flores would be playing against one of the teams he’s technically eligible to represent.

The winger could play for England, Mexico, or Canada at senior level, though he seems much more likely to opt for one of the latter two at this stage. So that should add an extra bit of spice to the friendly on October 9th.

With Arsenal, Flores put in another strong display and provided an assist against Norwich City at the weekend. That put him on four goals and three assists in his seven appearances for the u18s this season.
