German outlet Tag24 report that Arsenal are still interested in signing Denis Zakaria. They join Manchester City and SSC Napoli in the race, but none of the clubs after him have yet made a formal offer.

There has been plenty of interest in Zakaria from elsewhere in the past, with Manchester United, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, FC Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich having all tracked him or put feelers out at some point.

But that was in 2020 before his knee injury denied Gladbach the chance to cash in. It’s a different story now, but Arsenal remain involved.

For Gladbach’s part, they want to extend Zakaria’s deal. As for the player, he wants a move. His contract ends in 12 months, so he’s in control. He’ll discuss his future with the club after his extended vacation due to his participation at Euro 2020 with Switzerland.

The Athletic named Arsenal as a club that should be after Zakaria pre-Euros, particularly while the Gunners are on the lookout for a Granit Xhaka replacement. They also suggested Gladbach would push through a sale if Zakaria refuses to extend.
