Arsenal players come and go, and there is no denying that some of them will go on to success with other teams.

In 2019, Alex Iwobi left the Gunners for Everton, where he has settled in to become part of the team. Let’s have a closer look at his career and what we can expect from the future.

Training with Arsenal

Iwobi began his training with Arsenal when he was still in primary school, and continued all throughout his teenage years. He made his first-team debut in October of 2015, playing against Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup. His Premier League debut came later the same month, with a 3-0 win against Swansea City.

In his time with Arsenal, he helped them through many big matches – including Arsenal’s victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup of 2016/17 and their win of the 2017 Community Shield. Though he signed a long-term contract with them in August of 2018 that was supposed to carry through until 2023, he instead signed with Everton and prepared to make the move to join them.

The Everton Move

The Everton deal came in August of 2019, with an initial fee of £28 million that then rose to £34 million. He has continued to enjoy success in this club, and is a key part of the team in their current season. He is proving to be a valuable addition to the squad, and checking out any FA Cup betting odds will help to show the prospects of the team as a whole as the season continues.

His further development as a player has been the cause of a lot of conversation with the club. He has been put forward as a starter several times with Everton, something he did not often get to do with Arsenal, and it should help to give him a great chance to develop his skills on the pitch. He has already proved that he is in possession of some brilliant skills like long ball and crosses, and Everton will hopefully give him the opportunity to push these skills to the next level.

International Prospects

Iwobi has also played on several international stages, showing his value as a player in matches of this level. Though he played for England in his younger years, he has chosen to play for Nigeria as a senior player.

In October of 2017, he scored the only goal in a match against Zambia. This helped to secure the Nigerian team a space in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He played in all three games of this competition before the team were knocked out. Having also played in the Africa Cup of Nations, he has also proved himself to be an excellent international player.

Iwobi has done well in his career so far, and the move to Everton should prove to be a good one for his career. With many matches still to come, he should prove himself to be a valuable asset to Everton.
